Step 1: Add the Privacy Policy URL to a menu

  • Log in to your Shopify admin dashboard.
  • Click on “Online Store” in the left-hand menu.
  • Select “Navigation” from the drop-down menu.
  • Click “Add menu” if you want to create a new menu for your Privacy Policy, or click on an existing menu (such as “Footer menu”) if you want to add the Privacy Policy to an existing menu.
  • If you’re creating a new menu, give it a title (e.g., “Footer menu”) and click “Add menu”.
  • Click on “Add menu item” to create a new item within the selected menu.
  • In the “Name” field, enter “Privacy Policy” or a similar title.
  • Click on the “Link” field, and from the drop-down menu, select “URL”.
  • Paste the Lawpath eDoc URL provided for your hosted Privacy Policy into the “URL” field.
  • Click “Add” to include the Privacy Policy link in the menu.
  • Click “Save menu” to save the changes.

Step 2: Adding the menu containing the Privacy Policy URL to your website footer

  • Click on “Themes” under “Online Store” in the left-hand menu.
  • Find your active theme and click on “Customize”.
  • In the theme editor, click on “Footer” or the section where you’d like the menu to appear.
  • Select “Add content” and choose “Menu” from the list of available options.
  • From the “Menu” drop-down, select the menu containing your Privacy Policy link (e.g., “Footer menu”).
  • Click “Save” in the top-right corner of the theme editor to save your changes.
  • Click on the “Link” field, and from the drop-down menu, select “URL”.

This will ensure that the Lawpath eDoc Privacy Policy URL is visible and accessible to visitors on your Shopify website, and is consistent with the recommendations from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
