Read our interview with Amy Xu from AX Media where we uncover the story behind the business as part of our new customer series.

In our new series celebrating local businesses, we’ll interview founders and business owners to learn about their business and also what makes them tick. Every business’s story is different – as are their goals and plans for the future. We’ll delve into the story of how the business came about – from it’s humble beginnings to today.

Today we’re talking to Amy Xu, who started AX Media in 2019.

“If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth a million words”

The marketing landscape has undoubtedly changed since the internet became the dominant way people communicate. Content marketing has similarly become one of the key ways businesses build their brand and promote themselves to customers. Content whilst informative, is also inherently visual. For businesses that want to grow their organic audience, visually appealing content is a must.

Starting AX Media

It’s well known that video is the form of content which draws the most engagement. However, there’s a lot that goes into writing, filming and editing a high-quality video to showcase your brand. AX Media covers every aspect of the process – from brainstorming ideas, to getting the video ready for distribution.

Interview with Amy Xu

1. To start, tell us a bit about what your business does

AX Media began in 2019 with goal to make full service video production service accessible and personalised from idea to creation. We work personally with you and your brand or company. Typically, we work with brands looking to create stunning videos for marketing, and we’ve also done music videos, event filming, and much more.

2. How did AX Media come about?

I have a passion for compelling storytelling, unique imagery, and representation and diversity in media. I am a creative storyteller and passionate content creator and have a Bachelor’s degree in Screen Media and am multi-skilled in digital software and writing for creative industries. Right after I graduated from university, I decided to pursue my passion and dream by starting AX Media.

3. What are some of your key milestones and successes?

Our clients are our biggest success. We have 21 Happy Clients, 27 Projects completed and 372 Hours of footage. Some of our more well-known clients include Olympus Australia, the State of Library of NSW, and Western Sydney University. Some of our recent notable projects are:

  • J.M Coetzee (Nobel prize winner for literature) at the NSW State Library
  • Photos and event videography at University of New England for a French literacy conference
  • Production demonstration (produced with a quick turnaround) for Olympus Sciences
  • Creating a music video for musical artist Danae

4. Finally, what are your plans for the future?

We are going to strive to put forward our services to local communities and business and want them to discover the power of video production. We also want to make things easier for customers by implementing a streamlined process for all our clients, whether they be individuals, businesses or artists.

What businesses can learn from AX Media

It’s possible to love what you do and make a passion project a full-time business. As Amy has shown, venturing out on your own can be risky, but it’s a risk worth taking. Providing a complete service to clients also correlates to customer loyalty, with customers returning time and time again.
