To say 2019 was a big year for us here at Lawpath is an understatement. This year, we launched a raft of new features and hit momentous milestones. We added 17 new members to the team, who’s hard work made all of this possible. To send off 2019 (and the 2010s), here’s our highlights reel.

March – We introduced our Legal Advice Plan

In March, we introduced our Legal Advice Plan, the first of its kind in Australia. Our plan offers all the benefits of our essentials plan, but with the added bonus of having a lawyer on hand to assist with any issues that come up along the way. The way we see it, small businesses need professional legal advice just as much as larger companies, so we brought in an option which would provide consistent legal help without the eye-watering costs of hiring an in-house lawyer.

June – Users woke up to a new-look website

Our website was ripe to be rejuvenated- but not only aesthetically. Functional updates, such as our company registration form were re-designed to be more interactive and easy to use than before. Our new website is easier for users to navigate, has a sleek and modern design, but most importantly, it reflects what our platform is all about – smart and simple legal.

September – We helped over 100,000 Australians

At the tail end of 2018, we had over 70,000 users. In September of this year, we reached the exciting milestone of 100,000 users. This milestone led us to think about the journey we’d been on. Starting from when we had less than 10,000 users to being close to 110,000 users, a lot has changed. However, our desire to disrupt the legal industry remains the same. You can read more about our milestone here.

September – We reached 2000 articles on our site

We’ve always believed in providing open and free information for those who need it. Our articles cover topics from running a business to common tax and legal questions. At last count, we’d published close to 2,300 articles. This number will only grow in 2020 as we continue to write about the topics that matter most to Australian business owners.

October – Our eSignature tool was launched

Customising and downloading legal documents online is one thing, but what happens next? To give our users the complete experience, we introduced a tool in our platform which lets users eSign documents for free. Signing documents online is convenient, simple and good for the environment. Our customers had been asking for a tool like this for a while, which made it’s launch such an exciting occasion.

October – The updated Lawpath App was released

Our new eSignature tools lives within the Lawpath App, but this wasn’t the only update we made to it. In October, we launched a new version of the Lawpath App. This version is more user-friendly, comprehensive and interactive for our users to enjoy.

November – Our $4.4 million capital raise became one of the largest in Australian legal tech history

November heralded another celebratory moment – our latest capital raise. This year, we managed to secure $4.4 million in funding, making it the second largest raise in Australian legal tech history. This raise reflects a larger embrace of legal tech in Australia (you can read about it in the AFR here). It’s safe to say that as Lawpath grows, so will legal tech. We have big plans for 2020, which includes investing these funds in crucial areas such as growth and innovation.
