What is an employment lawyer?

An employment lawyer provides expert guidance on legal matters relating to the workplace and the relationship between employers and employees. Employment law is vast and varied, extending to legal areas such as occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination, and workplace relations.

There is a diverse range of situations where you will need to hire a lawyer with expertise in employment law. These include the formation and review of employment agreements, the recovery of unpaid work and benefits, resolution of workplace disputes and compliance with workplace regulations.

If you are an employer or employee, it is essential that you hire an employment lawyer to help you navigate through the intricacies of employment law. Our networks of experienced employment lawyers operate on a fixed-fee basis and will provide the right assistance for your legal needs.

Why do I need to hire an employment lawyer?

Employment law is a complex area. As an employer you may be unaware of your legal rights and unable to properly handle workplace disputes. If you are an employee, you will want to know your role and status within the workplace.

A problem that most businesses face is not having the right legal documents in place to handle these legal situations. Without the correct legal documents, an employer may take unlawful action and an employee may be misclassified as an independent contractor. This can result in a long and costly litigation process. It is necessary to engage with an employment lawyer to clarify your rights, responsibilities and obligations.

When will I need an employment lawyer?

Many legal issues can arise within the workplace and throughout the course of employment. Issues relating to unfair dismissal, employment status and workplace disputes. The following are some of the instances where you will benefit from consultation with an employment lawyer:

  • The formation and review of employment or contractor agreements;
  • The development and administration of workplace policies and procedures;
  • If you need advice regarding employment and workplace disputes;
  • If you need advice regarding an enterprise agreement;
  • If you are seeking advice on employment termination and redundancy;
  • If you have experienced workplace discrimination;
  • Any claims of unfair dismissal;
  • Information about Employee Share Schemes; and
  • Any general advice about employment law.

If you are looking to hire or fire, or need your employment contract reviewed you will need to get in touch with an employment lawyer. A lawyer experienced in employment law will provide you with the right advice and documents to ensure that you are legally protected.

Without proper legal protection, costs can add up. Whether you are an employer hard at work running a business or a hard-working employee, the last thing you want to be doing is spending money on expensive legal bills.

Brilliant service at a great price

Claire provided us with website ts and cs, a privacy policy and subscription ts and cs based on a fairly loose brief (from me). Her first drafts were almost exactly what we wanted and after one teleconference she nailed it. Not only that, but she provided the documents in our website fonts and style so all we had to do was a simple cut and paste. She also gave us loads of free advice about other things we might need in future. We will definitely be engaging her again. Highly recommended.
