Dion McCurdy specialises in Not-for-Profit (NFP), Charity, Startup, Social Enterprise and Commercial Law, as well as Estate Planning for individuals.
His experience spans 6 years, working in several mid-tier and boutique legal firms in Brisbane, Queensland. Those appointments included estate planning for high net worth individuals, families, vulnerable beneficiaries, international residents and business owners. Dion also previously worked in estate litigation but today Dion acts as legal counsel for festivals, not-for-profits, charities, companies, couples and individuals.
Dion holds a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science and Psychology), Bachelor of Laws (with honours) from the University of Queensland and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from QUT. Dion is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland as well as an Adjunct Associate Lecturer at the School of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Queensland.
Dion previously worked as a business manager for a health network where he was responsible for group corporate strategy, merging practices, operations, accounts, health and safety, marketing, recruitment and training.
Dion is now the Co-Founder and CEO of NewVote, an independent charity whose purpose is to advance education and enhance democracy. This role has taken him around the world to speak at National and International Conferences and Forums on Political Science and Democracy. Dion is a recognised social entrepreneur, expert on democracy and thought leader, having won the QUT Bluebox Accelerator Award and successfully received funding from a philanthropic foundation.
